On an island with no bridge, groceries are a logistics question before they are a shopping question. You can carry everything across on the boat, buy it here, or have it waiting when you walk in the door. Most groups end up doing some of each - and the ones who plan it in advance eat better all week.
Island Market
Island Market is the island's grocery: staples, coffee, ice cream, grab-and-go food and the essentials you will actually run out of. Hours are Sunday and Monday 8:40am to 6:30pm, and Tuesday through Saturday 8:40am to 7:00pm.
The important part is that they deliver on-island. When you are cooking for sixteen, that is the difference between a shopping trip and an errand that eats an afternoon.
Mango's Island Store
At the Island Club. Sunscreen, snacks, ice cream, and the things you realize you forgot once the boat has already left. Not a full shop, but it covers the gaps.
Stock the house before you arrive
Groceries can be arranged and waiting when you walk in, and a private chef can be booked for a night. Both are arranged on request - ask when you send your inquiry, and it is handled before your dates arrive.
What to bring and what to buy here
A simple rule works: bring what is specific, buy what is heavy. Anything brand-dependent, anything a particular member of your group will not eat around, anything hard to substitute - pack it. Bulk staples, drinks, ice, produce and anything cold are better bought or delivered on the island than carried across on a boat.
Plan around check-in
Check-in is 4:00pm. A delivery timed to your arrival means the first evening is dinner rather than a supply run, which matters more than it sounds when everyone has just spent a day travelling and crossing the sound.
What the kitchen gives you to work with
Dream Catcher's kitchen is built for a full house: island seating so the cooking happens where everyone already is, a refrigerator and freezer with an ice maker, an oven and range, a microwave, a toaster, a coffee and tea maker, and a full set of cookware. Outside there is a BBQ grill.
With sixteen beds in the house, cooking is not a compromise here - it is usually the best meal of the day.
